Fellow Stevens Students, I hope everyone had a fun and successful year. First, I would like to thank all students running for senator positions in the upcoming election. I look forward to working with you this upcoming year. We will be having senate elections for the rising sophomore and junior class. Please take a few minutes to go vote on www.stevens.edu/vote . We will have a full senate starting next semester, which has not happened for some time.
We are also excited to be giving out the first set of Student Government Association Awards to Stevens administration, faculty and employees. Our Public Relations Chair, Brett Lipschultz, will be presenting awards for Distinguished Advisor, Teaching Faculty, Faculty Mentor, Teaching Assistant as well as Community Involvement, Exemplary Leadership and Campus Impact.
Over the past year the SGA has turned into a force impacting all realms of Student Life on campus. The Academic Affairs committee has done a fantastic job representing student ideas and wants with the Provost and the four schools. The Campus Life Committee has worked to get a better cable package and increase recycling. Community Relations has brought in everyone from local city council members to state legislators in order to make sure that our voice is heard on all levels of government. The Jacobus Advisory Board has vastly renovated Jacobus, our student center, including the addition of a 65-inch television for all to use.
We have made great strides to improve campus, but we look forward to making an even bigger changes this upcoming year -- with your help. As your Student Government, we strive to be the force for change on campus and want to know what you think works on campus and what needs improvement. Please e-mail me at any time to discuss or recommend new ideas or fronts we should work on. The Cabinet, the Senate and I are privileged to serve you and would love to hear feedback and advice. Congratulations to the graduating seniors and I look forward to seeing the rest of you in the Fall.
Sincerely,
Brandon Alan Haverberg
