Perfect 10: Women's Tennis moves to 10-0

Playing its first dual match in a week, the Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team did not miss a beat as the Ducks ran their record to 10-0 on the season with a 6-3 victory over Rutgers-Newark on Wednesday afternoon in Hoboken, N.J. Stevens captured all three doubles matches and the top three singles flights against the Scarlet Raiders, who fell to 3-2 with the loss.
At No. 1 doubles, senior Dana Bacalla and freshman Allyson Kingman posted an 8-3 win over junior Nicole Rubinetti and sophomore Monica Iturralde. Juniors Whitney Bender and Rebecca Ryba followed with an 8-6 victory against senior Fergie-Ross Montero and sophomore Fatima Gramatica at second doubles. In the third-doubles flight, sophomore Natalie Schloeder and freshman Kendra Appleheimer totaled an 8-2 win over sophomore Winnie Changco and freshman Kelly Fitzsimmons.
Bacalla rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Rubinetti at first singles. Bender added a 6-2, 6-4 win against Fitzsimmons in the second flight. At third singles, Kingman was a straight-sets winner (6-2, 6-1) against Montero. In the fourth-singles position, Gramatica earned a 6-2, 6-4 win over Appleheimer. Ryba dropped a 6-3, 6-2 decision in her match against Iturralde at fifth singles. Changco dropped the first set then rallied for a 6-7 (5-7), 6-2, 10-7 victory over Schloeder at No. 6 singles.
