Franzese finishes first in 6k at Stevens invite

Sophomore Melissa Franzese finished first (24:47) in the 6k out of 30 runners that competed in the 12th annual Stevens Institute of Technology Cross Country Invitational held at Liberty State Park in Jersey City, N.J. Stevens' women's finished first overall in the 6k and second overall in the 4k as 13 collegiate schools participated in this year's competition.

Sophomore Erica Bakelmun finished fourth overall in the 6k with a time of 26:42, while freshman Jamie Brabston finished eighth with a 27:44 clocking. Senior Dariel Stack rounded out the scoring for the Ducks with a 15th-place finish and a time of 30:50.
In the 4k, junior Sara Amitrani led the Ducks with a second-place finish clocking a time of 15:35. Freshmen Shanna Beairsto and Donna Barden finished sixth and 11th with times of 17:36 and 17:54, respectively. Freshman Danusha Sanchez rounded out the scoring for the Ducks with a 22:48 clocking.
