Every year, New Jersey Transit allows college students and post-secondary school students to ride NJ TRANSIT for free. The weeklong occasion falls on September 17 through September 23 of this year. Free-ride coupons can be obtained from www.njtransit.com after completing a short questioner that includes the student's school name. After submitting the questioner, a coupon will appear. The coupon, along with a valid college id will allow you to ride NJ TRANSIT for free. However, the free pass is restricted to buses and trains, which does not include the PATH.
The promotion is a part of NJ Transit's effort to increase ridership while publicizing its system in order to compete for Federal transit money that has both city and state significance as environmental policies become more rigorous. NJ transit is the third largest mass transit system in the United States; providing 2,027 buses, 711 trains, and 45 light rails.
