Love Hina is a crazy anime about Urashima Keitaro and the promise he made to his childhood love many years ago. They promised each other that they will go to Tokyo University, will fall in love with each other and be forever happy. Unfortunately for Keitaro, the little girl moved away and he forgot her name! Now 20 years old, Keitaro is still determined to get accepted to Tokyo University and find the girl of his dreams. However, he has failed to get accepted three times and is now kicked out of his house and looking for a place to live. Poor Keitaro! Tear! Fortunately for Keitaro (or is it?), he winds up at the Hinata House, an all girls' dormitory and hot spring, and is even made manager! So now, Keitaro shares residence with several cute (and hyper and crazy) girls, one of which is the upbeat and rather violent Narusegawa Naru, who looks relatively similar to the girl Keitaro met so many years ago.
Love Hina mixes drama and comedy and provides an entertaining and uplifting story that keeps viewers very amused. Though there are several main and supporting characters, it is not difficult to keep track of who's who, mainly due to the fact that each character is so radically different from the others, such as wild child Kaolla Su and the very shy Shinobu Maehara. Since the majority of the main cast of Love Hina is female and the story is set in a hot spring, there is quite a bit of fan service (which would be lucky for Keitaro, except for the fact that the girls beat him up and send him soaring into the atmosphere almost every day). Love Hina is a funny and wild ride of an anime.
Love Hina will be shown this Friday, August 31st at 9:00 PM in Buchard 118 along with several other anime at the Stevens Anime Club's Matriculation event.
