On May 9 at 4 p.m. John Horgan, Director of the Center for Science Writings, will present the first Green Book Award to Edward O. Wilson. Dr. Wilson, a professor at Harvard University, was selected for his book "The Creation: An Appeal to Save Life on Earth."
The Green Book Award was created to bring attention to books that address and raise awareness surrounding environmental issues. On April 4 it was announced that Turner Construction, the nation's leading general builder, will be the sponsor of Green Book Award. In the release detailing the sponsorship, the Stevens News Service quoted John Horgan as saying "Their support adds to the messaged that the award is meant to convey-that science, engineering, and technology management can promote the growth of society in ways that do not degrade the earth's environment."
The May 9 presentation will be taking place at 4 p.m. in the Howe Center's Bissinger Room and is open to the public. Afterwards Dr. Wilson and Horgan will be discussing conservation and the relationship between science and religion along with other issues.
