Men's Tennis Improves to 12-7 Overall with 6-3 Win over Yeshiva

The Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team continued its dominance over the Skyline Conference with a 6-3 victory against Yeshiva University on Sunday at the Binghamton Racquet Club in Edgewater, N.J. With the win, the Ducks improved to 12-7 overall and 5-0 in league play. Stevens has now won 29 straight matches against conference opponents dating back to 2003.
The Ducks began the match against Yeshiva by winning four of six singles contests and then clinched the victory by taking two of three doubles flights. Junior Ricky Bawa defeated senior Daniel Basloe by the score of 6-1, 6-1 at first singles. Senior Boris Kocherov dropped a 6-3, 6-2 decision to senior Eilam Efrat at No. 2 singles. Freshman Piotr Rusinkiewicz fell in straight sets (6-1, 6-4) to senior Adi Isaacs in the third flight.
Junior Arjun Mehta needed three sets to knock off Max Klein by the score of 6-0, 4-6, 6-2 at fourth singles. Sophomore Kobe Attias added a tough 6-4, 7-6 (8-6) victory over senior Daniel Goodman in the fifth-singles position. Senior Ian Mullican was a straight-sets winner (6-1, 6-1) against Mike Pawil at No. 6 singles.
At first doubles, Bawa and Rusinkiewicz did not drop a game in their 8-0 win over Basloe and Isaacs. That win clinched the match for Stevens. Kocherov and Mehta dropped an 8-6 decision to Efrat and Pawil at No. 2 doubles. Freshman Russ Suereth and Attias defeated Andrew Mezzi and Klein by the score of 8-2 at third doubles.
With Sunday's loss, Yeshiva fell to 5-2 (2-1 Skyline) on the season. The Maccabees also had their four-match win streak come to an end.
