With the end of the semester swiftly approaching, campus activity has been sky-rocketing. Last week, as a part of Greek Week 2007, the Inter-Fraternal Council (IFC) organized a campus-wide event for every day of the week. IFC Vice President Nima Ameri '08 said, "Essentially, Greek Week this year was meant to be a synergy of the Greek community, a time when we could all come together and show our unity under fun and competition."
Fun and competition was everywhere during this Greek Week. Sigma Phi Epsilon, Sigma Nu, and Theta Xi hosted a comedian on Monday night. The comedian was preceded by a slide show featuring pictures from the various fraternities and sororities. The different houses laughed with each other and then at the comedian.
Phi Sigma Sigma, the Lodge, and Delta Tau Delta organized an indoor sports night on Tuesday and Beta Theta Pi put together a barbeque and game show along with Delta Phi Epsilon on Wednesday. A guest speaker was brought in by Omicron Pi, Phi Sigma Kappa, and Alpha Sigma Phi on Thursday and all the houses collectively sponsored a barbeque on Friday.
MCG and Panhel played a big roll in organizing the events and also came through with heavy attendance. All in all, Ameri thinks things went well: "The turn out was great. The week was hurt a bit by the weather, but we have already begun planning a bigger and better Week for next year." Ameri added, "We hope that as the future progresses, the involvement in Greek Week will grow to the extent where the entire campus will look forward to Greek Week." With that enthusiasm, next year is sure to be bigger and better.
