Jesse James, located at 503 Washington Street, is yet another great boutique that is located close to the Stevens campus. I was definitely excited to step in there this week and discover a new favorite store on Washington Street. Opened less than five months ago, Jesse James has quickly become a popular boutique with many Hoboken residents. From dresses to bags to candles to handmade greeting cards, Jesse James has a large variety of items and accessories for women.
Owner Jessica Caulfield likes to sell clothing from designers such as Chaiken, Vanitas and Walter. Vanitas's pieces are great for something like a semi-formal event or a dressy dinner. For denim, Jesse James carries a large selection of Hudson Jeans in many styles and sizes. The boutique also tends to have some less-known denim designers that are typically difficult to find elsewhere in Hoboken. Like most clothing stores this time of year, the winter items are beginning to appear in the sale section (50%-75% off!) and the spring lines are starting to have a presence in the displays and on the racks.
I always enjoy finding something unique, and Jesse James certainly had plenty for me to discover. A gold-colored "Jewelry Tree," displaying many necklaces, bracelets and earrings hanging from its branches, is located right next to the register. Many styles of "Honeydew" brand underwear were also located just to the right when you enter the store. A basket of chocolates is in the back located next to a couple of comfortable chairs near the dressing room in case you aren't shopping but are just waiting for someone to finish. Think you are too tired to walk a block from campus and look around? Jesse James provides shoppers with bottled water as they browse.
Even if you don't have the time or the money to shop right now, Jesse James is something to look forward to later this spring. Jesse The boutique has a medium-sized courtyard attached to the back of the store where it will hold a few cocktail events this spring to show new styles and items for the season. To be notified of these upcoming events, just drop by and sign up for their mailing list by leaving your name and e-mail address.
Gift Certificates for any amount can be purchased and gift wrapping is available as well. The store hours are Monday-Saturday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
