Fuller's 15 Points Helps Women's Basketball Top St. Joseph's

Freshman forward Brittany Fuller scored a taam-high 15 points on 7-for-17 shooting from the floor as the Stevens Institute of Technology women's basketball team extended its winning streak to five straight games with a 50-42 victory over St. Joseph's College on Wednesday in Patchogue, N.Y. Fuller added five rebounds in the contest as the Ducks won for the 10th time in 11 games to improve to 19-4 (12-2 Skyline Conference) on the year.
With the victory, Stevens assured itself of at least the No. 2 seed for the upcoming Skyline postseason tournament. The Ducks trail Mount Saint Mary College (18-3, 11-1) in the race for first place, but they will meet the Blue Knights in the regular-season finale on February 17 in Newburgh, N.Y. Stevens is also now just one win away from tying the school record for wins in a season. In 2001-02, the Ducks went 20-7. Stevens also won 20 of 29 games last year in its first season under head coach Jon Hochberg.
Junior forward Dora Enright had 10 rebounds, nine points, four steals and two assists in the win over the Golden Eagles (2-21, 1-13). Junior guard Jean Matusiak finished with nine points and five rebounds. Sophomore guard Dani Dudek contributed nine rebounds, six assists and four points. Freshman guard/forward Sarah Gehring chipped in with nine rebounds and six points.
St. Joseph's was led by freshman guard Carissa Pirotta, who had a game-high 18 points. She made four of five shots from downtown against the Ducks. Freshman forward Trish McMahon totaled nine points and seven rebounds in a losing effort.
Leading 15-13 midway through the first half, Stevens went on a 13-2 run over the final 9:39 of the period to grab a 28-15 lead at the break. Matusiak scored the first six points of the spurt for the Ducks. Enright contributed five points in the run.
