For those who have not yet discovered Central Park, it is an oasis in the middle of a concrete jungle. This sprawling park covers 843 acres of prime New York City real estate that is being preserved for the public.

A good place to start enjoying the park is at the running track around the reservoir. The track draws both joggers and those out for an afternoon stroll. The biggest attraction of the park remains its many miles of walking paths. Also, many historic buildings are located throughout the park.

Something can always be found to do in the park, no matter what time of year. In the summer, concerts are often held on the great lawn and a cheerful carousel plays showtunes. In the winter, Wollman Rink opens up, giving those visiting New York an old-fashioned pastime to enjoy. This rink is often publicized during the televised showing of the lighting of the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree at the end of November.

The Central Park Zoo, only a short distance from Wollman Rink, is a fun place to visit and with only a small admission fee, it should be accessible to everyone. The Bethesda Angel Fountain is a particularly beautiful example of the larger than life sculptures that pepper the park. The fountain has been in the park since 1873 and is located at the South End. Belvedere Castle, within easy walking distance of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, houses a Nature Observatory, but that is not what lures people to this area. The castle is situated on a scenic overlook, providing panoramic views of the park. Though signs are conspicuously posted that no wedding photography is allowed, many a bride has come to this spot to take photos.

Central Park is the perfect place to take that special someone. Begin your evening with a visit to Tavern on the Green followed by a horse-drawn carriage ride around the park.

There are many other attractions and things to see and do in Central Park - way too many to list in one column. Go out and enjoy all the park has to offer.
