After a Sweet Sixteen Appearance in the national tournament last season, the men's soccer team is looking to take it not just one but a few steps farther this year. Currently ranked number four in the country on D3kicks.com, the team has proved it can put on a show. They started the season with an overtime win vs. Moravian College, getting pushed ahead by senior Nick Gkionis scoring off an assist from Junior Craig Moquin. The team has gone on to beat number eleven NJCU and battle to an overtime scoreless tie with The College of New Jersey.
The Ducks have received stellar contributions from players both old and young. Senior Goalie Chris Celentano has anchored a defense that has allowed only six goals in six games. Seniors Chris McGreevy and Nick Gkionis have come up clutch for the Ducks each putting three goals in the back of the net and starting all five games. McGreevy earned a spot on the D3kicks.com team of the week. Also contributing to success have been junior midfielder Craig Moquinand Junior Midfielder Sean Bliss. Stepping up this past week is freshman forward Terrance Johnson. Johnson was named the Skyline Player of the week after scoring five goals since the season began.
The Ducks have also participated in community service this summer, traveling to Branchburg, NJ to run a children's soccer camp. This season has proved successful thus far and the Ducks are just getting started. Number 4 is close to the top, but not close enough.
