An avid fan is always appreciated by a hard working team. Hearing their name called by a familiar voice and drawing from crowd enthusiasm to dig a little deeper is something very special. We are very inspired by the encouraging fan.
Encouraging. There is the keyword. Stevens apparel, face paint, and posters are fun, spirited and always appreciated. The fan however has a responsibility to his or her Institution and the team for whom they are cheering. We need to be respectful and encouraging to our own team and leave the other team alone. If anything, jeering at the opponent will just get them angry and light a fire to beat up on us more. Please don't do that to your athletes. We have enough to worry about with the game and do not want to deal with opponents wanting to hurt us because of a rude comment by a fan. It does not take a good athlete out of the game to remark on his or athletic ability, uniform, gear, height, weight, etc. A good athlete will focus, be able to harness it and take it out on those who did not start the badmouthing. The Athletes.
Please come out and see the games, please go crazy with Duck Country, please show everyone the caliber of a Stevens student.
