So you made it to college, the best 4 years of your life. The lessons learned here will undoubtedly carry you through the rest your life, but the more I look around at my fellow student, in particular those who are unhappy, the more I realize that they missed out on that vital advice my father gave me as I left home for college. As I pulled the last of my over-packed duffel bags down the stairs to the front door my dad stopped me and said "Don't forget that the education they may give you in the classroom isn't the only reason paying some forty thousand dollars for you to be up there; pull your nose out of the books some time and enjoy yourself. Half of what you're going to learn in college has nothing to do with your education." While I laughed it off and continued on that day, I look back and as I see students who transfer out or drop out the reason I find more often than not when I ask them why is a common complaint of nothing to do. With the city a stones throw, a bustling campus life that promotes the development of new clubs for new interests and a town like Hoboken though I find that hard to believe. Rather, I think these students expected to find their college experience on the new laptops they received as freshman, or maybe the expected it to come knocking on their door, but outside the random fraternity trying to dorm-storm I promise you that the story you tell in 20 years won't start off with an instant message, and the fun times to be had, the stories worth telling, start with you getting up and becoming involved. In this issue we've listed almost every club we could find contact information for, and if you can't find one that interests you contact the SGA and ask them how to start one because someone else here is bound to share your interest. So while your studies here are important, and I promise you you will spend quite some time with your nose in the books, go out, be involved, join a club, play a sport or just toss around a Frisbee, but do something and the good times will follow.
