This year, Boken celebrated its 30th anniversary and took a marked turn from years prior with a shorter, more packed event. Each day from Wednesday, April 9, to Sunday, April 13, featured a "big" event, worth coming out to see for most of the school. Boken started with Bokenstock and fireworks on Wednesday. Shenanigans ensued and a hypnotist entertained Stevens students on Thursday. The weekend started with a presentation of the Dramatic Society's The Mystery of Edwin Drood on Friday evening. Stevens Athletics hosted a campus-wide barbecue before Men's Lacrosse won against Nazareth on Saturday. The College Humor Tour stopped by Stevens Saturday night and Boken finished with the Castle Point Anime Convention on Sunday. During Boken, Adam Hecht won the campus-wide Last Man Standing competition. The thirtieth anniversary of Boken, however, did have its problems. "Shenanigans" was significantly dialed down from its initial plans. The fireworks didn't get a permit until the afternoon of the event. Envy on the Coast, one of the performers at Bokenstock, had to travel to Hoboken from Japan. However, Boken committee chairs Katie Weatherall and Kate Freed pulled the right strings to make everything come together for a very memorable "Boken 30."
