On February 4th, two bands played to a crowded Jacobus Lounge for the first Entertainment Committee music event of the semester. The event featured A Balance Between, a nu metal band similar to Linkin Park without rap, and The Pretty PleaS, a punk band short a guitarist. The Pretty PleaS was the main act of the event, with many students turning out to see Computer Science Professor Steven "Bewchy" Gabarro play bass and sing, while Ivan Neurotic played guitar and Tim "Picard" Vaughn completed the ensemble on drums.
The event was a success for all involved. Gabarro thought that "The show went well, even though I had an incident with the guitar [cable dying]. I had fun." Although the poor acoustics of the Jacobus lounge muddled some of the songs, the songs "Your Song" and "Honorary Member of the Walking Dead Club" were popular, and a cover of Katrina and the Waves' "Walking on Sunshine" brought surprised smiles to the crowd, since its content was such a departure from the other songs.
Daniel Bolella, the music chairman of the Entertainment Committee and this event's organizer, was more than satisfied with the show. "I thought it was absolutely fantastic, and I think everyone was pumped to see Professor Gabarro rock all-out. I know I was."
