Hoboken has a reputation as one of the youngest and most exciting cities in New Jersey, and it lives up to this buzz with a combination of coffee shops, nightclubs and bars. Beyond these normal nightlife attractions, Hoboken offers a variety of other nighttime opportunities.

Maxwell's
One of the most well-known Hoboken landmarks is Maxwell's, a combination club and restaurant. The club isn't the normal type, but instead focuses on live performances. The food is good, but is too expensive for a normal meal. Maxwell's also boasts a rich history of performances. Notable past sets have been played by Nirvana, The Shins and My Chemical Romance, and Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band recorded the video for "Glory Road" in the restaurant.

Movies in the Park
Another attraction of Hoboken is the Movies in the Pier A Park, offered during the summer months. These Wednesday night shows are launched each year by the Hoboken International Film Festival, which Stevens partially hosts, and has served as launching points for several films that have gone on to wider acclaim.

Hoboken Arts and Music Festival
Each September and May, Hoboken hosts the Arts and Music Festival. This Sunday afternoon event sees Washington Street closed off for a variety of performers and small vendors. Beyond the trinkets and live performances, local restaurants and outside chefs come to Hoboken to show off some interesting dishes.

Restaurants
Hoboken sports an unusually large count of eateries, with the vast majority located on or just off Washington Street. The full range of world cuisines, from Johnny Rocket's Americana to Frankie and Johnny On the Hudson's steaks, and price ranges, from McDonald's Dollar Menus to Amanda's expensive multi-course meals, is covered in Hoboken. For older students, there are also a good number of bars, all of which require proper identification.

Outside Hoboken
Venturing beyond Hoboken, lots can be found in Jersey City, Weehawken and elsewhere along the waterfront. Jersey City's Newport neighborhood is anchored around the Newport Centre Mall and features a variety of other small restaurants and shops, all accessible via the World Trade Center PATH line. Weehawken offers the upscale Chart House Restaurant and Harbor Bar and Brasserie, accessible via the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail. Finally Edgewater is the home of popular Japanese market Mitsuwa, which requires either a trip on the Light Rail and transfer to bus, or a car to reach.
