This year, Stevens welcomes the Class of 2013 to campus. Like previous years, this year's freshman class presents a marked change from past classes. The biggest change is female enrollment, which increased a staggering 28% from the Class of 2012. The total class size also jumped and stands at 614 students entered, not including 38 transfer students, but including 29 international students. The international students are largely from Turkey, Malaysia, China and Greece, with others from points scattered across the globe. As always, students come from all over the country, with 27 states represented. Most students are from either New Jersey or New York, but this year also had increases in enrollment from Maryland, Virginia, Connecticut and Massachusetts.
Another change this year is in the concentration of majors. As always, the majority of students entering intend to concentrate in engineering, with 73% of the class focusing in some area of engineering. Both mechanical and civil engineering majors are showing year-by-year increases. Of the remaining 27% of students, 11% are majoring in science, 7% in computer science, another 7% in business or quantitative finance and the remaining 3% in the College of Arts and Letters.
