Stevens is known for frequently showcasing the work of students and local artists in low-key exhibitions in the lobby and lower floor of the Edwin A. Stevens Building. The current featured work is that of Stute photographer Sam Eichner, class of 2009. The photos were taken over a period of five years, starting in 2004 and extending through the present. There is no consistent theme to the photos, and Eichner comments that he "just wanted to document the interesting events of life."
This exhibition is a great showcase of the quality of modern digital photography. The photos are presented largely without digital manipulation, with only one photo needing serious manipulating, although all the photos' colors are balanced for printing. Eichner worked with Dave Zimmerman, the Executive Director of the DeBaun Center for the Performing Arts, and Robert Gonzales, the Managing Director.
In addition to the exhibition, Eichner will be participating in the "Virtual Verge" exhibition for the Art & Technology department on April 25, showcasing the animatic for his 3-D animated movie, "Walk Your Spider Twice a Day."
Framed prints are available at a price for $125.
